SONY PLAYSTATION® CONTROLLER
SURFACE MOUNT FUSES

So your controllers don't work anymore

The bus that is used for the the sony playstation controllers and the the memory cards has a 750mA surface mount fuse on its VCC line. If you have shorted VCC to GND or tried to beef up the motors in your dual shock controller you may find that no controllers will work in your PSX anymore. The solution to this problem is to replace the fuse or to solder two wires two the blown fuse and attach a standard glass fuse to the other end. In either case here are some pictures to help you find it.

The fuse is the component in the middle right of the screen with 0.7A written on top. The connector CN102 is the ribbon that goes to the controllers and CN602 is the power connector from the PSU board.

You can see the two black wires I have added. These go to a glass fuse I have mounted in the top of the case near the CD mechanisim.
