XSIMM6 memory expansion board

XSIMM6 (Six Sim X) was invented and manufactured in 1994 by Systems Research Ltd., Tokyo. It is a memory expansion board with built-in SIMM memory socket and there are two variants of it:

  • XSIMM6 designed for X68000 XVI
  • XSIMM6c designed for X68000 XVI Compact.

This is due to different shape and mounting positions of internal memory expansion for XVI and XVI Compact.

XSIMM6 XSIMM6c

These XSIMM boards use 72pin SIMM memory modules which vertical dimensions must not exceed 30 mm. They are widely available.

  • PC/AT compatible: 9-bit (with parity) 72-pin
  • Macintosh: 8-bit, 72-pin 4MB or 8MB SIMM's (70ns and there is 60ns, which is OK but, 60ns and the clock up if ones) 2MB of memory XVI by the additional 6MB or 4MB.

Middle of the board as the left picture, the bottom of the SIMM installed, with a dip switch to set the memory in this expansion area. DIP switch settings, proceed as follows.

Ie, or 8MB SIMM in place 6MB, if all four switches to ON, additional capacity is 6MB. (Set the picture above).
